EXCITING NEW SHOW CLASSES FOR EVERYONE
If you missed the Rye Flower and Veg show last year, then you missed a treat. With hundreds of entries the Community Centre was awash with a marvellous selection of locally grown fruit, vegetables and home baking, not to mention a great display of handicrafts and photography.
The show will take place on Saturday 19th August 2023 at the Rye Community Centre on Conduit Hill. Full entry details, the entry form, the rules, the classes and the opening times for entering, bringing your items along and viewing are on the website now and will be in the show schedules that will be around town during the summer.
Regular entrants to the show will spot a few new classes to consider this year, not least in the cookery section where we are including a plate of ‘brownies or blondies’, a ‘cake made featuring a vegetable or fruit’ and a dish of ‘flapjacks’. We will also be returning with the very popular ‘sausage roll with an interesting addition’ class as it was so strongly competed last year.
Apart from the usual classes in the flower and veg section we will also again feature the ‘decorative basket of mixed vegetables and fruit’ and will be including another new section.
Following the sad death last year of one of our enthusiastic supporters Bill White, his wife is sponsoring an extra special and fun category entitled ‘the longest carrot’. If you haven’t planted your carrots yet, then be sure to pop some seed in the ground very soon.
Don’t be afraid to bring along your entries this year, we are a friendly and relaxed group and welcome everyone from complete beginner to experienced gardener.
