We’re excited to announce that this years show classes are just about to be announced – take a look at the Classes and Prizes 2025 or click here to see this years categories – they should be online in the next few days. You’ll see all the usual and popular classes in the fruit and veg section with a few new additions in the floral classes. Look out especially for new class number 40. “Contrast, Clash or Co-ordinate” which is for garden displays where the colour choices of the vessel and display are very important.
The cookery classes again feature the well-loved “Sausage Rolls with an interesting twist”, and the hotly contested “Fruit Loaf” but also includes “Fancy Flapjacks”, “Choc Chip Cookies” and a chance to demonstrate a “Savoury Flan” with a garden themed decoration. Take a look online for inspiration. All the well-loved usuals are also still in the schedule.
Photography this year will offer an opportunity to enter class 51 which is for an image of a “Fruit, Flower or Veg” that you would have loved to enter in the show but, as is often the case, was not quite ready or past it’s best for the show date. “A Book Title” is the theme for the public vote and there are three further photography classes to consider.
Handicraft classes include a new option to design and build a “Bug Hotel” – a great opportunity to enhance the environment in your garden by introducing the necessary insects to help your plants. Make it a multi-storey or mansion a lodge or a tower block. Make it a safe haven for little insects to escape predators. Max size 40cm x 40cm x 40cm
Now is the time to get the seeds in for this years veg, although with the chilly nights at the moment the seedlings might need a bit of protection.
